Meet John “Tater” Harris

Candidate for Baldwin County Commissioner, District 4

Tater is a hardworking business owner, community leader, and longtime Baldwin County resident running to represent District 4 on the Baldwin County Commission. With a passion for public service and a deep commitment to Baldwin County’s future, He is stepping up to bring common-sense leadership, responsible growth, and real results to county government.

Having lived in Baldwin County for the past 14 years, Tater understands what matters most to the people who call this place home — from the beaches to the rural heart of the county. As the Owner and Operator of Gulf Coast Rental Co., he’s built a successful small business that supports tourism, provides year-round equipment and storage solutions, and creates local jobs. That experience gives him a boots-on-the-ground perspective on growth, regulation, infrastructure, and what it takes to thrive in Baldwin County.

Tater brings hands-on experience in project management, budgeting, and construction — with professional credentials like OSHA 510, peer recognition, and a history of managing multimillion-dollar construction projects. I was also previously certified as a Construction Manager (CCM).

When he is not working or serving his community, Tater enjoys saltwater fishing, watching sports, eating home cooking and spending time with his wife and child. He’s proud to call Baldwin County home — and he’s ready to fight to protect its future
